Re-cut 1 inch from stems each time the roses are placed in the water
Add one packet of the flower food each time the water is changed.
Keep the roses in a cool place
Detailed Care steps: Clean-Clip-Change
As soon as possible remove the roses from the box.
- Ideally the vase should be cleaned with a anti-bacterial soap or bleach and rinse
Mix one packet of the flower food (provided with the roses) into the clean 1 quart (about 8” tall) vase
Use the cleanest possible water (distilled or rain water is the best)
Soft water may not be good if the water softener is old
Remove the water baggy and sponge or water tubes.
Remove any leaves that will be under the water
Cut 1” off of the stems and place them in the vase
Roses are delicate flowers and are shipped with the guard petals still on to protect the inner petals. Please remove any damaged or discolored petals as you desire.
Place the vase away from the sun or heat.
After 3 days cut about one half inch off of the stems and make sure the water is clear.
When the water becomes cloudy dump it out rinse the vase with anti-bacterial soapy water and refill with clean water and the other packet of flower food.
No matter what, after some period of time, the water will become cloudy. Since the roses have tiny tubes to take up the water, they will plug. This is why the vase and water should be sterile to start with. The flower food packets provide both sugar that the roses can use and an anti-bacterial agent. But it only keeps the water clean temporarily. Thus the water should be monitored (replaced as necessary) and the stems re-cut.
Never add fertilizer to the water.
Adding any other greens or vase filler can also add contaminants which will plug the stems.
These roses are truly fresh roses that have been grown under controlled conditions. They will take up a lot of water and can empty the whole vase in 4 days.
